Drew Landry: Helping Homeless Through Music

Drew Landry is a singer-songwriter originally from Louisiana but currently living in Montana. Although he is thousands of miles away, this COVID-19 crisis has him thinking of his home state, especially the homeless community. He is concerned about the state’s response and if the homeless populations are receiving adequate care. With supplies dwindling, for hospitals and healthcare workers, it makes a person wonder how much is left for a person with limited means. As any good songwriter would, he has put those concerns and thoughts into music.

Drew Landry was inspired to write a song, called the COVID-19 Blues. You can listen to the song by following the link. Any money made from this track will be donated charities helping the homeless.

Drew Landry will be taking over Mustang 1071’s Facebook page for a live performance on Sunday, April 26. The show starts at 7:30 pm. Instead of posting an online tip jar, he will be collecting donations for Catholic Charities in Acadiana.

Catholic Charities of Acadiana operates three shelters in Lafayette: St Joseph Shelter for Men, St Michael Center for Veterans and the Emily House shelter for families. The shelters will house around 160 on any given night. This includes men, women, children, and veterans.

Help is needed now more than ever. The COVID_19 pandemic has made it very difficult for volunteers to donate their time and also created a challenging situation for obtaining supplies.

The safest way to help Catholic Charities of Acadiana provide services for the less fortunate is through an online monetary donation link. This will allow Catholic Charities to directly purchase the essential supplies needed to equip their facilities.

The mission of Catholic Charities of Acadiana is to provide care for the sacred gift of all human life, especially the most vulnerable.
