Hurricane Season has officially begun in the Atlantic Ocean.

Hurricane Beryl, the second named storm of the season, became the earliest Category 4 storm in recorded history over the weekend as it grew from a tropical depression to a major hurricane in less than 48 hours.

On a collision course with Jamaica, Barbados, and other small islands, Beryl is expected to weaken before hitting the Yucatan Peninsula later this week.

As of now, there doesn’t appear to be a threat to Louisiana, but always keep an eye on the forecast as storms change direction often.
