If we have learned anything from the COVID-19 Crisis, it is how to sanitize. It has me rethinking everything. In the good old days, before the attack of COVID-19, I used to hang up my work clothes after my shift. I work in a studio. It is basically a desk job. But now I question this practice of re-wearing work pants. Should it be washed every time? For now, I decided to stop utilizing the chair to hold my “good” clothes, instead, I chuck it straight to the dirty pile.

A good majority of the people infected were infected by a handshake. So obviously, it is the things we touch with our hands that pose a risk which is why handwashing is crucial. And making sure the things we touch are clean like your phone. Think about how often you touch your phone. Or think about how often you touch a door handle, then your phone, a keyboard, then your phone. Your phone is obviously dirty and full of bacteria. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that bacteria will harm you. If that was true, we would sick all the time. But this virus that is sweeping the world is different.

According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, a study determined that COVID-19 can survive on glass, metal and plastic surfaces for as little as 2 hours and for as long as 9 nine days. The COVID-19 is contagious and spreading at a rapid rate, it is best to not take any chances. It is time to clean your phone

Here are some guidelines from SamMobile for cleaning a mobile device.

According to the article, before you start the phone cleaning process, be sure to turn it off and unplug it. Remove the case and wipe it down with a microfiber cloth. Do not apply liquid cleaning solutions directly on the device. It could damage the device and ruin the coating. Plus liquid could seep inside of the component. You can dampen a cloth with water or a small amount of disinfectant. Wipe the phone with an alcohol-based solution that is at least 70% ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Hypochlorous Acid-based solution is also safe. Do not use bleach and do not spray the phone.

If you do not trust yourself to clean your precious device, some companies (like Samsung) offer a cleaning service for your phone. Click here to find out more.
